Welcome to 2nd Grade at Annehurst! My name is Abby DeChant I am excited to work with you and your child this school year. It is going to be a year of fun learning, lots of adventures, and many new friends.
I live in Powell with my husband Adam, children Olivia and Mason, and our dog Millie. Adam is an Intervention Specialist at Westerville North High School and is also the JV boys basketball coach for North. Go Warriors! Olivia is 4 years old. She goes to preschool and also loves to play dress up and read. Mason is 2 years old and loves to eat, go to the park, and tell jokes.
I grew up in Westerville and knew in first grade that I wanted to be a teacher! I feel so lucky to be teaching in my "home" district. Growing up, I attended Robert Frost, Heritage, and Westerville North. I attended Ohio University where I graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a K-12 Reading Endorsement. I earned my Master's degree in 2014 from Ashland University in Curriculum and Instruction.
I landed my first teaching job at Annehurst and have been here ever since! This will be my 13th year teaching at Annehurst. I have also taught Reading Intervention and Kindergarten.
A few of my favorite things:
*playing and going on walks with Olivia and Mason
*our mini-goldendoodle Millie
*watching Food Network/HGTV
*Outer Banks, North Carolina
*fuzzy socks
*cooking
*OSU sports
*reading
*Thanksgiving
